Château du Hureau Lisagathe Saumur Champigny 2003

ITEM # HURSCLIS03

Varietal: 100% Cabernet Franc

Viticulture & Vinification Notes: The grapes are hand-selected from 35 year old vines before being fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Jancis Robinson: The Ch de Hureau, Lisagathe, from vineyards with quite a lot of clay producing heavier tannins, is a real star – super-gulpable but cracklingly sumptuous with a hint of liquorice but no easy sweetness. Bone dry and very appetising on the finish. This is the most intense cuvée of red he produces and the longest living.

Decanter Magazine: Deep purple. Glycerin coats the inside of the glass. Plenty of aromas (blackberry, raspberry, cherry) along with a finishing licorice note. Monumental wine with a huge depth of fruit. Powerful, ripe and restrained. Tannins dense but rounded. Tank aged.
