Notes From The Winemaker: The first commercial release was in 1993 of the 1989 vintage. Barrel-aged in new French oak for 18 months.
Tasting Notes: Flavors of cassis, boysenberry and brown spices are present with notes of tobacco, cedar and sandalwood. Mouth is full and wine finished with fine-grained tannins and juciness.
Wine Advocate: 90 points.
The deep ruby/purple-tinged red offers up sweet aromas of red and black currants, licorice, and loamy soil. This fleshy, rich, full-bodied effort displays subtle notes of wood spice, truffles, and earth. Still young, this beauty promises to last for 10-15 more years.
