Moraga Red 2005

ITEM # MORED05

Varietal: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot

Viticulture & Vinification Notes: Barrel aged in top French oak for 20 months and then bottled aged for another 15 months prior to release.  The first commercial release was in 1993 of the 1989 vintage. In 1995, Robert Parker stated, “Moraga could easily be mistaken for a top-flight Bordeaux.”

Notes From The Winemaker: The first commercial release was in 1993 of the 1989 vintage. Barrel-aged in new French oak for 18 months.

Tasting Notes: Flavors of cassis, boysenberry and brown spices are present with notes of tobacco, cedar and sandalwood. Mouth is full and wine finished with fine-grained tannins and juciness.

Wine Advocate: 90 points. The deep ruby/purple-tinged red offers up sweet aromas of red and black currants, licorice, and loamy soil. This fleshy, rich, full-bodied effort displays subtle notes of wood spice, truffles, and earth. Still young, this beauty promises to last for 10-15 more years.
