Spain: Penedès

          Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm

Named after and sitting on the Via Avgvsta, an ancient road designed to increase commerce during the Roman ages, Augustus is located in the beautiful Baix Penedes region just a few kilometers from the sea. In 1983, after oenological tests confirmed that the unique microclimate and calcareous soils were ideal for grape growing, the Roca family bought a 9.9 hectare property called Les Deveses and built a winery. In addition to their beautiful Les Deveses property, the Rocas also lease and manage prime vineyards in the surrounding area. Augustus plants Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Xarel-lo, Syrah, and Chardonnay, varietals that flourish when exposed to the hot Mediterranean sun during the day and the cool breezes that flows off the ocean in the evening. Owned and managed by a dedicated and incredibly talented family, Cellers Augustus Forum is one of the best producers the region.
