Soliste L'Espérance Pinot Noir Russian River 2008

ITEM#SESPPN08

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir (Dijon 777 and 115 clones)

Viticulture & Vinification Notes: The gently sloping L’Espérance Vineyard in Green Valley is one of the coolest sites in the region due to the nightly fog that keeps the air cool. The microclimate ensures that the fruit has a longer handtime period. The vineyard has Goldridge (clay loam) soils and is sustainably farmed. The fruit is hand-picked, gently destemmed and cold soaked with consistent manual punch-downs. The wine is barrel aged in 100% French oak (25% new, 75% used) for nine months.

Tasting Notes From The Winemaker: Visually, L’Espérance is vibrant with bright red robe (color) and the clarity of fresh red fruit. The nose displays tart raspberry and groseilles (red currants) nuances, a touch of cinnamon, vanilla and strawberry rhubarb. L’Espérance

is a charmer, with exuberant tight expression of red fruit, raspberries,

wild strawberries and red currants that are interlaced with soft

sandalwood, spice, and floral aromas. The finish is layered with tart

black cherries and rhubarb, firm acid and subtle delicate flavors.
