     Santa Brigida Fattoria La Ripa

   

Located in the rolling hills of Chianti between Siena and Florence, Fattoria La Ripa dates back to the 15th century when it was owned by Antonio Maria di Noldo Gherardini, the father of Monna Lisa. In the 1930s the property farmed most of its 140 hectares planting both olive groves and vineyards. The estate’s prime vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, Canaioli, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia, Trebbiano.

90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo

Viticulture & Vinification Notes: The fruit is sourced from La Leccia, La Fonte, La Mandria, La Stalla and La Volpaia vineyards. These vineyards are located at 400m above sea level with good southern exposure. Soils are composed of galestro and alberese stones. Traditional vinification with governo is used. The wine is barrel aged in oak, bottled and left to further age before being released into the market.
