France: Rhône Valley: Châteauneuf du Pape

             Domaine de Cristia

Founded 70 years ago by Etienne Grangeon, Domaine de Cristia is a rising star in Châteauneuf du Pape. The estate is a family affair: Etienne established the domaine with 2 hectares, his son, Alain, then expanded and improved the estate, and today Alain’s children, Baptiste, Dominique, and Florent, manage their family’s 21 hectare domaine. Domaine de Cristia has prime vineyards

throughout the appellations of Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhone Villages, Côtes du Rhone, and Vin de Pays. The vineyards are planted with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Roussanne, and Bourboulenc. The family uses organic viticulture and vinification techniques and the 2008 vintage will be officially organically certified.
