South Africa: Stellenbosch

              Leopard Frog Vineyards

The vision of winemaker and proprietor David John Bate, Leopard Frog handcrafts a petite portfolio of couture Cape wines that personify the perfect balance between sophistication and sensuality - big, bold wines that deliver an immediately gratifying experience but promise a more complex relationship after a few years in the bottle. Fourth generation Canadian and the 13th recorded generation of the Bate family of English and Swiss descent, David was a CEO with a dream; as CEO of Brookwood Capital Corporation, an international investment banking firm, David studied South Africa's vineyards for over 10 years and obtained his Master of Science from Bordeaux International Wine Institute before creating Leopard Frog in 2005.

Located in the heart of the historic wine capital of Stellenbosch, South Africa, Leopard Frog produces an outstanding portfolio of wines as well a unique array of hand-crafted cigars and chocolates. The estate's wine portfolio relies on a select handful of premium varietals planted on historic family-owned farms--some of which have been growing vines for 325 years. The ensuing confluence of historic terroir and high quality cépage unfolds as a wealth of subtle yet significant sensations in every bottle of Leopard Frog wine.

Leopard Frog's portfolio has received accolades from around the world including being rated Best Wine Label Range in South Africa by Winelands Magazine and receiving 5 stars from Winecurrents and 4 stars from Wine Magazine.
